Singapore was my first stop on my Asia travels, and it was an amazing place to start. This small, multi cultural city state is absolutely packed with history, culture, and surprises (spot the visit to the pug cafe!). ☂️ Head to Haji Lane to get those Instagram shots
🦁 The Merlion is the symbol of Singapore. Head to the Merlion statue to get shots with the iconic Marina Bay Sands in the background
🌴 Make Gardens by the Bay your last stop so you are there for the Super Tree light show
🐾 If you're a dog lover, the pug cafe in Kampong Glam offers a chance to snuggle with gorgeous pugs in aircon bliss
✈️ Changi airport offers a free city time if you have a layover 6 hours or more!

This encouraged tourists and gave locals a vital source of income to improve living conditions and avoid being destroyed. Don't miss out on the Rainbow and Blue Villages on your trip through Java! They're beautiful, instagrammable and an excellent way to spend your time in Malang before or after your trip to Mt Bromo. Tips below ⬇️⬇️

💸 You have to pay a small fee to enter the Rainbow Villages on either side of the river, and to enter the Blue village. This goes directly to the locals.
💙 The Blue Village is just opposite the Rainbow Village, but less well known with less tourists.
🎨 The Blue Village has incredible street art
🚗 Malang isn't very pedestrian-friendly. The best way to get to the Villages is by Grab car or bike.

Borobudur and Prambanan Temples were some of the most picturesque spots I've visited so far! Find out more about them below ⬇️⬇️

🇮🇩 Both are near Yogyakarta, on Java Island in Indonesia
🕍 Both are Unesco world heritage sites
📅 You can visit both in the same day, although because of the driving times between them it's a long day!
🎫 You need to book tickets for Borobudur in advance. If you want to go early, before the heat sets in, you need to book at least a week in advance.

There have been some amazing highlights in September! From the beautiful temples of Borobudur and Prambanan, followed by Mount Bromo in Java, to beautiful Bali and peaceful Gili Air, there have been so many great experiences! Key tips below ⬇️⬇️

🎫 You need a ticket in advance for Borobudur.
🌊 The boats from Bali to the Gili Islands can be rough and not very safe. I used Blue Water Express, the only company that complies with international safety standards and always felt very safe (not an ad)
🌄 Sunrise at Bromo is incredibly busy. Consider whether a sunset tour might be better for you.
👥 There are ways to avoid the crowds in Bali. Find out how to find a peaceful water temple near Ubud on Em's Globetrotting Gems
